Rubens de la Corte
(guitarist for Angélique Kidjo)

Renowned African singer Angélique Kidjo, with guitarist & Godin artist Rubens de la Corte lit up the stage at this years festival. Her latest album called "Djin Djin" features contributions from some major names in music: Peter Gabriel, Alicia Keys, Brandford Marsalis and Amadou & Mariam.

Rubens and Angélique played to a packed house at the Spectrum de Montréal on Thursday June 28th.

Sylvain Luc
(String Quartet with Didier Lockwood, Billy Cobham and Victor Bailey)

Godin player Sylvain Luc is a true master of the guitar and he proved it to the audience of the Théatre Maisonneuve in Place des Arts on Monday July 2nd. His live performance during this years festival also featured a stellar line-up of world class musicians.

Emily King

At the age of 21, Emily King is already a musical voyager. Born in New York to musician parents, she’s soaked up a world of diverse influences— The Beatles, Sarah Vaughan, Radiohead, Michael Jackson, Neil Young—and, on her debut East Side Story, perfectly integrated them into a sound stamped with her own melodic personality.

This soulful songtress wowed the crowds in front of the Scène Alcan stage on July 4th for 2 free shows.

Lionel Loueke

On July 6th Lionel Loueke finished one show at the festival and headed straight for the outdoor Carrefour General Motors stage to perform another...and what a performance it was! With his new album "Virgin Forest" under his belt and his recent signing to Blue Note records, this major contributing musical force is headed straight for stardom.

Denis Chang

Denis Chang was already an avid musical explorer when he fell in love with Django Reinhardt’s songbook at 19; in the years since, this manouche guitarist has remained open to stylistic inspiration, be it from bebop, fusion, latin, pop, rock, blues or classical—in short, music!

Denis' fantastic performance at the GM MMMIS tent on July 4th consisted of pieces from the Django homage Flèche d’or.
