SDxt
The SDxt is a bit
of a jack-of-all-trades but unlike other instruments that attempt to serve
a variety of purposes, the SDxt also manages to master several of them. For
starters the hum-single-hum pickup configuration delivers a truckload of sonic
possibilities. The classic, high gain. Humbucker sounds are superb and the
single coil adds that 'glassy' definition to the sound not usually available
in a humbucker-only equipped guitar. Sound isn't just about pickups and the
SDxt delivers plenty of 'snap' thanks in part to its 25½" scale and rock maple
neck. Abundant sustain is enhanced by the precise fit of the neck and deep
neck pocket (all traces of paint, glue and finish are meticulously removed
from the pocket to ensure a perfect wood-to-wood connection). The center block
of Silverleaf maple in the body provides a solid foundation for the neck and
hardware while the poplar wings on each side help to keep the weight comfortable.
The floating trem provides stable tuning even under a heavy hand. The SDxt
is also available with the Godin Leaftop finish, which applies a highly figured
maple veneer to the top. Quilted tops are available with the lightburst finish
and flame tops are offered in blue. Maple or rosewood fingerboards are optional
in all colors.
